Luther Hawley began his law enforcement career by attending the 22nd session of the University of Texas Police Academy in Austin Texas. He graduated in April of 1976 and returned to UTPB as a police officer. He left UTPB and continued working as an officer with a few departments: Sonora Police Department, Midland Police Department and finally the Odessa Police Department.
As his career progressed in the Odessa Police Department he was selected as a Field Training Officer in 1983 serving in that capacity until 2000. He transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Burglary Investigator in the Property unit and subsequently received his Master Peace Officers License. Luther retired from Odessa PD in 2005 after 24 years of service.
After working in the private sector for the last four years, Luther makes a full circle in his career by returning to UTPB. UTPB will benefit from his specialization in investigations, crime and safety prevention, and as a training officer.
