What is a *DEFINE logon ID?
A *DEFINE logon ID is a four- or five-character code used to identify a user who has access to the mainframe. All individuals who have access to mainframe systems, including *DEFINE have mainframe logon IDs that are associated with their UT EIDs. UTPB *DEFINE logon IDs are created by the Information Resources Division.
I have picked up my *DEFINE logon ID from IRD, I log on to *DEFINE and I am not able to see my accounts. Why?
While logon IDs are created by IRD, the Office of Accounting sets up desks and and account views.
Only an electronic office manager or a delegate can add a user to a desk.
- Go to the US1 screen in *DEFINE for your electronic office. Type the office name in the Office Name field. Press ENTER.
- Type x in the Section 3 Electronic DESKs field. Press ENTER.
- Type u in the field next to the desk you want to update. Press ENTER.
- In the List of the Desk Assignees section, type the mainframe logon ID of the user you're assigning to the desk. If the user is a substitute, type s in the one-space field next to the user's mainframe logon ID. Press ENTER.
What desks am I assigned to?
How do I create an Interdepartmental Transfer (IDT)?
An IDT is created using the VT5 command in *DEFINE. If you do not have authorization for the VT5 command, first verify that you are on the correct desk and view. See the VT5 handout for additional information.
