The University of Texas of the Permian Basin invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Reading Education, available beginning spring or fall 2010. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate reading courses, supervising practicum experiences and graduate student research, conducting and publishing scholarly research, and providing service to the School of Education, the university, and the profession.
Required qualifications: Doctorate or ABD in reading, knowledge of current trends in reading instruction, three years K-12 teaching experience, demonstrated potential for effective teaching and scholarship, and certified or eligible to be certified as a reading specialist.
Preferred qualifications: Successful college-level teaching experience, expertise in elementary or middle grades reading instruction, interest in practice-based teacher preparation, knowledge of instructional technology, experience or the desire to teach via alternative delivery modes, and knowledge of the NCATE accreditation process.
