Field Education - Director

 

 

The Bachelor of Social Work Program at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) invites applications for the position of Director of Field Education, beginning August, 2009. This is a full-time 9-month tenure-track position, with a 25% time administrative appointment in the summer. Duties include teaching three courses each semester, student advising, participation in maintaining CSWE accreditation, and research. Preference will be given to those candidates who strive to be master teachers and who have a strong interest in pursuing research.
 
The Director of Field Education is responsible for: directing and coordinating field placement assignments of UTPB students and serving as faculty liaison between placement agencies and the BSW program; the identification, recruitment and selection of qualified agencies to serve as field placement sites; recruitment of field instructors; conducting field instructor training workshops each semester and practicum student orientations, and updating the Field Education Manual. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operation of the Social Work Field Education Program.
 
Required qualifications include an MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program and a minimum of two years social work practice experience in social services settings. A Ph.D. in social work or closely related discipline is preferred.
